Our brewers decided to both go big and go down under for our latest Limited Time Only offering. Imperial Passionfruit Tasmanian IPA is a mouthful to both say and to savor, as this Aussie flavor party is bursting with intense notes of pineapple and citrus. It is then juiced to imperial strength with the addition of Passionfruit during fermentation. G’day mate indeed!

This one pours a light hazy yellow color. Wispy white head and moderately clingy lace. The aroma is of passionfruit with a earthy hop scent as well. Both fruity and bitterness in the taste. It hides its ABV fairy well. Full in body and interesting.

12oz can from the brewery. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy lacing. It smelled of passionfruit, orange, guava and caramel. Sweet tropical fruit taste with toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Taking their little devil of a beer from the land down under to a tropical vacation, Schlafly adds passionfruit to their imperial New Zealand hopped IPA.
Pouring a hazy golden-straw, Imperial Passionfruit Tasmanian IPA commands the senses with a tangy, fruity, sharp and perfumy scent that hovers over a stark white froth. As a gentle sweetness of malt applies a light honey and graham cracker coat of the tongue, the session quickly steers toward the hops. Passionfruit, kiwi, papaya, lemon, grape and pineapple all carry a drying bitterness even before the overcast of passionfruit additions bring a fruitier tone. A bitter forward balance brings a late taste of green tea, verbena and sassafras with hints of wine and hemp to close.
Medium-full in body, the added fruit shifts the weight of the beer higher but does give it a little pizzaz. where flavors are greater, the refreshment takes a hit for a nice trade off of character, but not necessarily an upgrade.

Copper colored with excellent clarity. There’s an inch of densely packed off white on top. It faded into a quarter inch and there’s light soapy lacing present. There’s aroma is heavily compromised of passion fruit. I’m tasting passion fruit and green veggies. The mouth is crisp and lightly sticky.
