Our Hoppy Wheat Ale is a hybrid style that combines the deep gold haze and flavor of a sweet wheat beer with the bold hop wallop of an IPA.
Hoppy Wheats comprise one of the newest categories of beer styles hatched by the American craft beer industry that often reinterprets classical european styles by making them hoppier and stronger.

When I was first introduced to the Schlafly brand, I quickly learned that they make moderate-to-style ales and hit them with the highest of quality. My how times have changed. Don't get me wrong, the quality is all there. But the exploratory notion that i never attributed to the brewery has been woken. And this new flare is well shown in this "hoppy wheat" ale.
Cloudy yellow in color, the ale quickly releases a creamy and somewhat frothy white head to cap the beer beneath. Firmly headed, its foam character lasts the session and laces with well well defined collars. It's a firm looking wheat beer!
Sharp aromas actually start grainy-sweet and with the hearty malt scent of fresh baking bread and light cookie dough. Its follow of citrus, grass, pine, and herbs all lean toward a more earthen scent. Low fruitiness and delicate white pepper spice assists the herbal hop components in balance.
Bready-sweet to start, the part-grain, part-malt character lays the framework for the fruits of white grapefruit, under-ripened oranges and a hint of lemon and peppercorn to rise. Its medium-full middle is of light sweetness, assertive carbonation, and trailing minty alcohol warmth to recede in finish. But undeniably, the bitterness of grapefruit peels, fresh-cut grass and a stemmy notion finishes the beer with bite and zeal.
Hoppy wheat is a phenomenal blend of both wheat beer and IPA. Its fusion of flavor is of citrusy bitterness and natural ester-phenol balance which is both common and unnatural to the expected taste of both Wheat and Pale.
