Cloudy and orange gold, Chee Hoo Chongers pours like grapefruit juice, but with a frothy short white cap. As its tropical, herbal, citrus and stone fruit scent rolls from the rim, an initial sip of shortcake, cereal and honeysuckle leap right out.
As the fruity ale washes the middle palate, the cereal and grain sweetness starts to recede in favor of a bounty of citrus fruit forming impressions of orange, lime and grapefruit. Not to be outdone, other flavors of pineapple, mango, passionfruit and kiwi bring an exotic tropic flare. With hints of peach and apricot swirling around, the session wraps in a juicy taste of honeydew before falling smoothly bitter with green tea, hemp, spruce and verbena.
Medium bodied, smooth and creamy, the hazy ale finishes malty-dry and semi-sweet with a long afterglow of citrus peel for a taste that’s as rewarding as the charity that it supports.
