With the success of the Imperial Mole Porter, we decided to brew a draft strength version of this English style porter, with spices reminiscent of Mexican Mole sauce. Mole (or Americanized “Molé”) comes from an old Nahuati word for “mix”, or “sauce”, referring to the plethora of ingredients in mole dishes. The basic, Chipotle peppers, cinnamon, and cacao, pairs well with the coffee and dark chocolate character of an English porter, so we threw them together for a rich and complex beer that stays surprisingly drinkable. This is a one of a kind beer that is great for Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, Thanksgiving, and all through the holidays.

16oz can from Toby. Dark brown pour, flat. Aroma is dark malts with some savory spice. Cinnamon first in the taste, sweet, light chocolate notes. Sticky.

Brewed with cacao, cinnamon, and chipotle peppers.
Canned on 10.27.23
Purchased from the brewery cooler for $3
Poured at fridge temp into a nonic glass
Pours a seemingly thick oily black, with a cola tan head that rose quickly and fell just as fast. No lacing or residual head, but an oily slick left behind a long with some visible rising carbo popping the surface. 4
Dark bakers chocolate, some smoked chipotle and pepper, cinnamon too makes a slight appearance. Reminds me of Mole Negro. 4.25
Taste follows exactly how I remember mole negro. Smoky, savory, unsweet chocolate, soft peppery heat. It's quite delicious and while not rich I'd consider it robust. 4.5
Oily appearance carries and leaves a light trace behind. Fairly full nearing chewy body, soft carbo. 4
Overall a delicious adjunct laded English porter that is billed exactly as advertised. Incredibly well made with flavors that could have easily gone awry but blended perfectly and for the intended effect. Will absolutely buy again. 4.25
