Growler pour hours after purchase at brewery:
Amber gold, clear, with a fairly sturdy head. Aroma is a little grainy, thought there are some floral and spice notes, as well. Taste is along the lines of an east coast IPA from a decade ago. There is a slightly toasted malt opening that doesn't get a chance to express itself fully, being paired with a spicy, earthy, slightly piney bitterness from the start. They pair in relative balance for half the taste, but eventually the bitterness wins out, as it should in an IPA. Bitter notes are mostly pine, but there is a little spice as well. Average heft for a six and a half ABV brew, it finishes off dry with a slight linger of green pine needles.
