On tap at Irondequoit Brewing Company in Irondequoit, NY.
This one pours a darkish brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells a bit sickly sweet and stale, with caramel, sugar, and old malt, with no real hop character.
This is not a good take on the style. The ABV is too high, and it's too sweet, with no real toastiness, just caramel and kind of a stale fruitiness. There's no hop character, and it just feels to big and flabby for the stale. It feels underattenuated, or maybe not lagered long enough.
This is medium bodied, a little bit too syrupy, and just too heavy for the style. It's not super drinkable.
This is absolutely one of my favorite styles, so this is definitely a bit disappointing.
