The first in our new “Boxcar Barrel Series”, Deadhead is a fruited barrel sour inspired by our Cider Fresca Plum cider. After making our plum cider last fall we had some leftover yellow and red fleshed plums and that was the catalyst for making this delicious American Sour.

The plums from our farms in New York are super sweet and the addition of these in our barrels triggered a secondary sour fermentation that resulted in a slightly funky, yet decidedly refreshing beer. This crisp sour with the reddish hue of plums is the perfect companion to the dogs days of the Houston summer.
