Strong Bear

Poured a dense, dark rusty brown body with minimal khaki head. The aroma is pretty malty with notes of caramel and toffee coming through, in addition there are notes, albeit minimal, of bourbon and wood. The body is sticky, filling, there is a touch of something like port wine sweetness, something akin to dark fruits like black cherry or figs, and some sticky toffee sweetness helps fill out beer. Finishes strong and boozy, an enjoyable slow sipper, although I don't really think of this beer as a lager (I guess barleywine is de facto designation I'd give it).
