We did 5 days on the road in Louisville, Indy, & Cincy pregaming and then we drove up north this morning to meet up with the talls to kick off the annual beer & baseball trip. Road worn and wiped out; I was happy to relinquish the wheel to fresh drivers. Cleveland, or there abouts and fresh from the disaster that is the hotel, we really just dropped and ran. First beer (for some of us, anyway) at brewery opening on a Tuesday. At least I think it’s Tuesday…

Long standalone sharing a parking lot with a strip of stores. Enter and push to the rear for beer. B/W marble topped ‘C’ shaped bar, black pieced board base, & foot rail. Seating on the L’ for 15 on hightop metal chairs. White subway tie barback wall, and a copper barbell tower countered below with logo handles 10 & 10. Glassware over booze shelved to both sides of the taps, stacked atop coolers on the ends, and shelved below alongside sampler racks. 4 flats across the top and 2 draft boards on the end (beer, style, ABV).

Vaulted wood plank ceiling angled with skylight action & ductwork. Slat wood floorings up front and b/w honeycomb tiling starting halfway back running to the bar. Beige walls on one side with some small colorful art to the rear, and standard brewery & prohibition prints forward. Gray walls opposite with brew room view windows. Drop tube lights tracing the bar, mounted pan lamps on the near wall, mesh softball filament bulb lamps on the far wall, and tracks spots everywhere otherwise. Bar area holds 3 hightops and 15 tables & booths throughout the room.

Side room holds a dozen and a half tables; hightop & shared. Cinderblock & brick walls, and a rafter ceiling. Projection screen & foreign city prints. Views of the outside space, a dozen and a half mesh tables there.

15 beers up, a good spread of styles. 4 core beers (ISB American Pilsner, 4.5%; ISB IPA, 7%; Hungarian Pearl, Kolsch, 5%; Common Ale, English Mild, 4.5%), and 11 encores (Neo Harvest, Oktoberfestbier, 5.3%; Sloan Shandy, Lemon Wheat, 5.3%; Procedural Blowdown, DIPA, 9.6%; Blue Pearl, Fruited Kolsch, 5%; Pump School, Vermont IPA, 7.4%; Cherry Donker, Belgian Dubbel, 6.6%; Gourdians, Pumpkin Ale, 5.9%; No Curfew, Wheat Ale, 5.3%; Street Lager, Mexican Lager with Lime, 5.4%; Wizards Only, Schwarzbier, 5.5%; Even in the Morning, Coffee Porter, 6.2%).

Did a flight and then another because I couldn’t get 8oz shorty pours (booo). Hungarian Pearl Kolsch, has them fruity esters, nice; Blue Pearl Fruited Kolsch, slight & light on the fruit and not at all cloying; ISB IPA, pleasant, sweet, piney; Pump School NE IPA, big citrus & tropical; ISB American Pilsner, crisp, easy, tasty; Wizards Only Schwarzbier, nice chocolate & a bit of roast; Gourdians Pumpkin Ale, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, it was quite nice; Street Lager, Mexican Lager with Lime was a bit too limey. Wizards Only Schwarzbier, Hungarian Pearl Kolsch, & Pump School Vermont IPA for the wins, but there were a few others I liked, as well.

Wings. Yes, I had them. Smoked and char-grilled in a smoked almond romesco sauce (I didn’t know what a romesco sauce was but I got all brave for a minute and tried new shit). They were the goods. Large open space across 3 rooms. Lots of room here to play. Good food & drink here. How has nobody ever written this place up? Get your acts together, Ohio BAs.
