Thanks, Chad!
Was lucky enough to have Chad drop this along with a few others at a hotel in Sacramento for a pick-up. Back of the bottled read “Imperial mocha stout with Ghana cocoa nibs, lactose, and natural process Yemen, Ethiopian, and Brazilian beans roasted by Dark Horse Coffee. Matured in barrels for 10 months.” Nice.
Poured a pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of khaki-tan frothy head. Could see a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled bitter dark coffee, cacao nibs, char wood, ashtray, crayon, Tootsie Roll and roasty malts. A tad better out of the glass. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted a little better than the nose. Got cacao nibs, bitter dark coffee, char wood, ashtray, chocolate Tootsie Roll, crayon and roasty malts. Pretty smooth for 9.5 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Just a lovely stout. Excellent overall. (Overall - 4.25)
