Tallboy purchased at the brewery; dated Jul 28 2020 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a pale golden-yellow hue; its body is relatively clear, save for the countless flecks of sediment that fog up its complexion a tad. Within several minutes, one finger of soapy, foamy white head has been reduced to a filmy cap and tight collar; nice lace deposition, lookin' good. I'm getting doughy malts on the nose, with discernible hints of honey sweetness and maybe a touch of grassy, earthy hops. If I were going by looks/aroma alone, I might easily mistake this pils for a blonde ale.
It's an altogether decent Czech pils, featuring a bready, doughy, slightly biscuity malt backbone with a little bit of honey & butterscotch sweetness following soon after. The hops impart a little bit of floral, earthy bitterness towards the finish, but it's the bready malt and honey sweetness that persist into the aftertaste, albeit briefly. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that lightly agitate the tongue, giving a modest bite to this brew's mostly smooth texture. I had no trouble gulping this one back, and wouldn't have minded an encore.
Final Grade: 3.51, a B grade. Imperial City's Bohemian Pilsner is a respectable lager. Certain elements of this beer do remind of Pilsner Urquell - and that's a compliment in and of itself - though I wouldn't exactly say they're on the same level in terms of quality. Good effort for such a young brewery, and something that I'd encourage other lager enthusiasts to try if they're in a position to do so.

Pours a lighter gold colour with a tiny amount of head. This beer has a unique sweet smell/taste that I can’t place. Having said that, this unknown sweetness is delicious making this one of the better beers I’ve tried in a while. Well done pilsner
