473 mL can from the brewery, dated Sept 8 2020 and served slightly chilled.

Pours hazy and translucent, its amber pinkish-hued body capped with one finger of foamy white head that falls apart within two minutes or so. A thin collar and smooth cap remain in place afterwards, with a small stripe of lace also having been left behind. Coriander and rosemary are both noticeable on the nose, backed by hints of cherry, bready wheat and biscuity malts.

It's a decent wheat ale - the cherry provides a little bit of tart, fruity sweetness to the flavour profile, which is otherwise dominated by bready, wheaty pale malt sweetness throughout. The rosemary is easily discerned at the front end, with the coriander starting to come through during the lightly tart, spicy finish; more wheat malt and rosemary linger briefly into the aftertaste, which dries off within a moment or two. Light-ish in body, with moderate carbonation and tiny bubbles that result in a frothy, silky-smooth texture that I found pleasing. Fair drinkability - I could theoretically have a few of these in a row, though I'm not sure I'd want to.

Final Grade: 3.57, a B grade. Imperial City's Cherry Wheat is part spiced beer, part fruit beer, and part wheat ale - and while it checks all of those boxes adequately enough, I wouldn't say it really excels at any of them. I was a bit worried about the rosemary, but it's actually very nice when mixed together with the cherry tartness - sounds like an odd combo at first, but it works well enough. I wouldn't go out of my way for more, but it's a perfectly serviceable late summer/autumn refresher that I enjoyed for the most part.
