"When visiting our taproom, you may have caught our beertenders blending beers behind the bar to bolster some exciting new tastes. One of the most popular combinations is the mixing of our Goodbye Gravity Cream Ale with our Coffee Blonde Ale. Mixing these together really brings out the very best characteristics of both. The sweetness of vanilla in Goodbye Gravity compliments the fresh roasted and ground character of our Coffee Blonde, to create our Coffee and Cream Ale. We are happy to offer you the chance to bring the taproom home, in the form of our first canned offering of a blended Ale from ICBH.

473 mL can from the brewery; dated Mar 1 2021 and served barely chilled.
Pours clear golden-yellow with super-fine sediment strewn throughout its body; situated atop is one finger of foamy white head that fades within a couple of minutes' time. A sparse speckling of lace is scattered about in the process, which also leaves behind a modest collar of froth; looks fine to me. Coffee grounds on the nose, with hints of vanilla and grainy, doughy pale malts. Now don't get me wrong, I love the smell of a strong cuppa joe, but it kind of overpowers anything else that might've been going on here.
I kinda like it - a nice little blend of their Coffee Blonde and Cream Ale, with noticeable contributions from both. The coffee starts to creep in early on, alongside notes of grainy pale malts, red apple flesh and a little bit of doughy, honeyed sweetness. Cream soda and double-double towards the finish, which lasts into an aftertaste of slightly bitter coffee grounds, graininess and vanilla. Medium in body, with moderately low carbonation levels that softly brush against the surface of the palate; smooth and fairly satisfying mouthfeel, with good drinkability - assuming you're a coffee drinker, at least.
Final Grade: 3.78, a B+. Imperial City's Coffee & Cream is an intriguing blend, like a modern day black and tan. I'd place it about on par with their Coffee Blonde in terms of quality, and a little higher than their cream ale (Goodbye Gravity), mostly because the vanilla (of the latter) now has something to play along with - that being the coffee flavour (of the former). Totally worth a try if you're planning to stop by the brewhouse.
