473 mL can from the brewery; dated May 11 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden-yellow colour, with roughly one inch of foamy white head situated atop; it disintegrates within a couple of minutes' time, leaving behind a generous collar of froth encircling a filmy cap. Modest lace deposition as the level drops - it's a good lookin' lager. It smells of bready malts and dough with hints of biscuit & honey sweetness.
A decent, relatively malt-forward light lager - it tastes of bready, doughy, slightly biscuity malts and light honey sweetness, with a flash of grassiness towards the finish. Malty-sweet conclusion that lingers into the aftertaste, gradually fading to off-dry. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that adds a crisp bite to this brew's smooth mouthfeel; very easy to toss back - one can per period sounds about right.
Final Grade: 3.54, a passable B grade. Sting Light Lager ain't half bad, but like many craft light lagers it's also entirely forgettable. It's possible, perhaps even more than likely, that this is a re-labelled version of their original Light Lager - a beer I haven't had in a few years, so I can't say for sure, but they seem like similar recipes. Either way, partnering with the local OHL team will most assuredly boost this lager's sales, so that was a very smart move on Imperial City's part.
