along with their festbier, this is another excellent german lager for the season from these guys, we had an enjoyable and impressive visit, cool spot to hang out for sure and a nice beer selection. this is rusty orange in color, middle of the road as they go, lighter than many in color and in alcohol, but not by much, this is pretty much par for the course in the style. i like how i can smell the german yeast through the richer grain profile, this is baked and warm but also earthy and crisp, similarly proper water profile as the festbier, gets the most out of this malt. toasted and nutty, faintly sweet, light honey and toffee notes but clean in the second half. the yeast does a lot here, and the finish is clean. slight astringency only serves to lighten the whole experience, lightly tannic to me too, but still rich in the right places. smooth body on this, very minimal on the hops, but nicely balanced the whole way. frothy feeling and with great carbonation, its satisfying in a way thats more than refreshing, it feels almost healthful to me, sort of creamy and nutritive. nice take on the style, has personality but is not deviant, and stays drinkable. some really cool stuff happening in here, and it was great to rip this during their oktoberfest celebration!
