Poured into a Seattle Beer Week glass. Pours a medium to dark, orange-coppery amber with a quarter finger off-white head that dissipates to sparse patches with light lacing. Aroma of bready malt, brown bread, raisins, filberts and a hint of caramel. Flavor is dark bready malt, brown and rye bread, dry caramel and light dried plum and nuts; light grassy hops in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. This is such an uncommon style in the states that I always have to recalibrate when tasting it, which is too bad, because I like dark bready beers, of which this is a good example. Traditional tasting malt and fine dark bread and fruit notes. Fairly complex flavor. The aroma is richer than the flavor, which seemed a little dialed back, but the profile as enjoyable. A little fizzy at first with a mediocre head; but tastes great. Nicely done.
