Pours chestnut brown with a thin, soupy, tan head. Decent lacing.
Chemically orange smell over some strong roast and more moderate chocolate malts. The roastiness is fantastic, the orange less so.
Same dynamic plays out in the taste. The orange is like a float on top that seems artificial. Under that is a great roasty stout with clear vanilla and chocolate impressions and a semi-bitter finish.
Medium bodied with a slick, chewy, creamy feel. Moderate carbonation.
These guys can brew a quality stout, as evident from the base here, but the orange extract flavor in this isn’t to my taste. Maybe as a one-off closer to Christmas?
