We scored the most exquisite, pure Vermont maple syrup courtesy of Wonka's fine friends at Mance's Family Tree Farm in Shaftesbury, Vt. Here the woods are lovely, dark and deep and Robert Frost once called them home. The result is a luscious, sticky imperial stout bursting with warm maple, early morning coffee and a touch of blueberry chocolate. Drink up, there's miles to go before we sleep.

Pours a deep brown/black with a very light head that dissipates to a negligible ring fairly quickly.

Good quality black coffee jumps out to the nose first. A sweet maple note follows, present but not aggressive. A slight smoky/charred aroma sits in the distant background. Appealing.

Espresso with a little sugar starts the sip. The maple slides in behind, again, in subtle fashion. There is a suggestion of sweetened blueberries or maple soaked blueberries in the background along with the char from the nose. Good.

The body is on the thinner side but not what I’d call thin. This makes it very drinkable.

I really like this. The coffee notes have the right amount of sweetness in tow and the maple doesn’t jump out of the bottle to strangle your senses. This is a far more elegant beer than the average breakfast stout in 2022. I’d welcome more of this any time.

This one pours nicely, slow moderately thicker stout. Head forms slowly, nice initial look quickly turns into a little ring. This beer is black in color.

Very pleasant nose; nice maple sweetness followed by some rich coffee and dark chocolate. The sweet maple goes nice with the bolder less sweet sides of chocolate and coffee.

The taste mirrors the nose closely but the maple takes the backseat. It is first and foremost rich roasty stout, with coffee and dark chocolate. There is almost a berry like fruity as well.

Big body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter coffee note on the finish with a pleasant sweet sensation on the tongue.

As far as adjuncted beers go this one is pretty tasty and well balanced. I'm glad I bought some to give it a try. See you all later today.
