Pale German style lager brewed with the medieval single pot method, in which all of the hot side ingredients are added at once. After a long step mash, water grain and hops are boiled together. The solids are then strained off and the resulting liquid is chilled and fermented with our house lager yeast.

Had on tap. Clear golden body with plenty of carbonation, with two fingers of white foam. Smells of cracker, lager malt, white bread, lemon and mild old world grassy hops. Taste is much the same, great breadiness through the sip. Clean, crisp, yet full bodied and soft, smooth with a little froth, amazing balance here

The smokiness on this one is super subtle. If I didn't know it was meant to be "smoked" I would have not guessed it. It's because the grist is not smoked but the yeast from the Rauchschloss beer is used for brewing this one.

16oz can purchased from the brewery, sold as a single at the Jenkintown Night Market for $6. Canned on 07/17/2023, so this is almost 3 1/2 months old.
Look: It's a nice light gold or deep straw color with a super faint haze. There was about a finger and half of white head that ultimately dissipated to a thin layer. There's a nice steady stream of tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass that end up as small bubbles when they reach the surface.
Smell: It has a very nice, bright lemony aroma along with some grassy and peppery notes. There's also an earthy almost rubbery/tar-like note on the back end. It smells like it may be mildly acidic. There is a nice doughy, crackery malt base. Subtle honey and floral notes (think chamomile) too.
Taste: Super crushable. This is an easy-drinking, clean, and crisp beer. It has a delicately sweet maltiness up front and the finish is crisp, lemony, and earthy. It is so simply and made so well, that's the beauty of it. It doesn't matter if it's not so complex or complicated...it's just delicious and very well-balanced. I wonder if this uses Tettnang hops.
Feel: It's light to medium bodied. It has a nice amount of flavor for what it is. Nicely carbonated - the carbonation is very fine/soft.
Overall: It's a really tasty example of a Helles lager. This is not mind-blowing, as I've said about other Helles lagers that I've had. And I think that is great because it's not supposed to be mind-blowing. That being said, this is a really tasty Helles lager and I enjoy it very much. It's light yet not watery, crisp, clean, has a rich, full malt flavor, and has a very focused and balanced hoppiness. I have to hold myself back from just chugging this because it really is so tasty and drinkable.

Pours a strawish gold with a nice head. Grainy aroma, a bit slight. Malty flavor with a bit of hops, not much bitterness. Less sweet than many other American-made Helles. Light body, easy drinking. Good but not the best from HR.

Sampling a 16 oz can of this beer poured into my .5L dimple mug. Beer is cellar temp and date stamp is 10/20/2022.
The beer pours a clear golden to copper color. A frothy and fizzy bleached white head of almost 2 cm. This foam fades to the thinnest of edge layers after several minutes. I do get some scattered lacing as I swirl the beer or take a sip.
Aroma is grainy malts and some toasted bread with hints of mineral notes. I also get a bit of black tea hop scent that balances the malt notes.
First sip reveals a lighter body with smooth crisp texture. Carbonation is fine and fairly tingly as it rolls across my palate.
Flavor is some grainy notes and a bit of toasted bread and then rolls to some herbal hops that linger with a little bitterness. Finish is also very dry. Never any hint of the low ABV and this beer is out of my mug pretty quickly.
Solid drinkable helles.

Clear golden-straw with strong effervescence and two fingers of dense, slightly yellowed head. Good retention, rocky dissipation, thick soap scum lacing.
Crisp aroma with hints of corn, sulfur and some distant herbs.
Lightly cakey taste. Just a hint of toastiness. A bit watery mid-palate to finish. Lacks the firm bitterness of most of their lagers.
Light bodied with soft lively fizz.
A beautiful-looking beer with a great aroma, for which the taste just doesn’t match up. One of my least favorite from these guys.

On draft at the brewery, served in tall pint glass with plenty of head space above the 16 oz line.
Clear light straw color, couple inches of thick white head. Nice bready malt aroma and flavor, clean, just a touch sweet. Softer mouthfeel
