Schenkbier - We brewed this little beauty with equal parts pilsner and floor malted munich, a single decoction mash, and some nice spalt and styrian Celia hops. Flunderhaus is an ode to the “half houses” seen all around philly and other older industrial cities. Like these humble homes, this beer is diminutive but charming and full of character. No flounder were harmed in the brewing of this beer.
What is Schenkbier? Schenkbier (German; literally “pouring beer”) is a traditional term for a low-alcohol, lightly fermented beer that was meant to be consumed very fresh.

On draft at the Jenkintown location, in half liter pilsner glass
Clear medium golden in color, foamy white head. Mild grainy aroma, a little grassy hops. Taste is mild bready flavor, light and crisp, well balanced, easy drinking. Not a lot of depth to the flavor as their "regular strength" pale lagers. Thinner bodied.

Hazed gold with a large off-white head. Great retention and lacing. Lightly bready aroma. Dull bread, soap and hop bitterness in the taste. Full bodied with restrained carbonation. Typical shenkbier.
