Breakneck Ridge (6.7%) West Coast IPA in Collaboration with Wayward Lane Brewing (Schoharie, NY). Hopped and dry hopped with Citra and Simcoe, with a small addition of Columbus in the kettle as well as (a first for us) a bittering addition with centennial hop extract. Smooth bitterness with big citrus aroma and a clean, dry and snappy malt profile. We brewed this IPA to evoke some of the West coast IPA of the past, but seen through rose colored glasses. Rough edges polished, IBU’s forgiven, alcohol reigned in, aroma amplified. This is everything we want in a modern west coast IPA, and we got to brew it with our friends.

Pours a bright yellow color with white head. Aroma is grassy, pine resin, some citrus rind. Similar taste, drier crisp bitterness finish. Thin to medium bodied.

Very lightly hazed brilliant gold with a thin off white head. Citrus and some distant jungle rot in the nose. Flash of fruitiness up front with a somewhat pilly, acerbic bitterness on the backend. Medium bodied, lightly syrupy, with perfect carbonation. Not bad.
