Got in a BIF from snaotheus. 16 ounce can into pint glass, unreadable can dating. Pours fairly crystal clear dark ruby red/brownish color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing on the glass, moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread/crust, toast, nuts, wood, pepper, pine, herbal, floral, grass; light molasses, coffee, cocoa, dark fruit, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Moderate pine, herbal, spicy, roasted bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and fairly crisp/clean/refreshing finishing. Balanced creamy/bready malt, sticky hops, light resins/chalky roast. Lingering bitter/roasted dryness, no acrid/astringency. Very clean on lager flavors, light fruitiness in the aromas and taste. Minimal warming 4.8%. Very clean/rich Munich/roast malts and balanced noble hops. Really impressive and flavorful for the style/ABV.

8oz pour at the brewery.
Dark amber / toffee color, translucent, small head. Smell is nutty, grain husks, toasty.
Taste is grain elevator (the smell/taste being in or around grain elevators, it's distinct and I don't know a better description), toffee and dates. Light roast, moderate grainy sweetness.
Mouthfeel is light and clean. This is really nice.
