My favorite Every day session beer. Fresh and balanced. Great malt character, integrated hops and a refreshing, long finish.

i think they were just calling this house lager before, now its presented as snappy, and it was neat to have it at twelve percent, had been wanting to go there for a long time and check it out, finally made it. this lager changed a lot from first to last sip, and definitely took on a downward enjoyment trajectory for me, really peculiar evolution from crisp and interesting, to fruity and curious, to weirdly cheap and sweet and kind of bad, i even left a little beer in the glass, and thats really unlike me, overall i was not super stoked on this place, selection, quality, all of it, despite being a pleasant hang, i wanted a little more from the beers i drank. this is bright yellow with a slow fading layer of soda bubble head, fizzy and popping, light but not too light in appearance. it smells like citrus, like straight up orange soda was on the line before this beer, and it tasted that way too. i cant imagine they are seeking weird esters in a house lager for mass market, so this is either a flaw in the ferment or a line cleanliness issue, which would seem inexcusable at a place that seems quality oriented like they do. upon first sip i kind of like the orange candy nuance, but i quickly realize its probably not meant to be there, and as it warms it turns a little chemical on me, which pairs poorly with the thin grain, the mineral profile this has that leans a little metallic, and the relative lack of other flavor. a bit of a floor cleaner thing, straw and hay from the pale malt, a light crackery pils note, and it does appear fresh. could be slightly dry hoppy too, but its hard to fully appreciate. the carbonation comes out of it after a few minutes, there is a weird adjuncty tinge, and its frankly anything but snappy, with some generic lager yeast linger, that orange soda thing, and some residual sweetness. i dont mean to totally bash this, ill try a can of it when i see one and compare, and i like the fact its not just the same old yellow beer, but it also seems flawed, not as dialed in as i would expect something like this to be from them. i was thinking super light and tidy, dry, decocted, high end cheap lager if that makes sense, but its decidedly not that, and as such a bit of a let down. will report back when i try it elsewhere or from the can...

Also known as Twelve Percent House Lager. Can purchased at Mule Bar in Winooski, VT.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

There’s a light sweetness on the nose with some subtle lemony sweet hop character, along with some light breadiness.

This is very lightly and subtly flavored, but not in a bad way. It seems to be built for maximum drinkability and efficiency, and it accomplishes that. There’s no off flavors really, with a lightly sweet start and well balanced bitterness on the end.

This is light bodied, and really drinkable – the can went down just super quickly and cleanly.

I really like the a lot of the breweries that brew at Twelve Percent, so it’s cool to see they also can make a good beer on their own.

Can. Clear gold with lasting head and lace. Earthy grassy honey biscuit aroma with perhaps a little corn. Sweet honey corn grain. Grassy noble hops come through in the finish more than the aroma IMHO. Light and very fine lively carbo. Well made American lager, but not my favorite style.

Drank from a 12 fl. oz. can purchased from Twelve Percent Beer Project, North Haven, CT
Best before April 2023
Served in a Willi Becher
Thanks to my sister Vanessa for grabbing me a four pack of this.

Impressive appearance. A fluffy, inch-tall, bright white crown capped the slightly hazy, pale golden yellow liquid and slowly dropped to a thin, resilient film. A singular drippy ring of lacing cascaded down the sides of the glass.

The aroma was outstanding and definitely lived up to the beer’s namesake. Really snappy and clean. Grassy Saaz hop notes came through strong. A dry, powdery, lager yeast presence was also quite prominent. Hint of sulfur. Touch of doughy malt sweetness too. Some biscuit-like notes emerged as the beer warmed.

The flavor profile was also really hoppy and clean but also very balanced and drinkable. Grassy Saaz hops again led things off. Crackery malts appeared next. Snappy lemon notes appeared in the center. The hops reappeared on the back end and in the finish, turning a bit more earthy and dry here with just a hint of lingering bitterness.

Excellent crisp, fluffy mouthfeel. Surprisingly fuller bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, zippy effervescence that turned soft and supple on the palate.

Twelve Percent Beer Project‘s house lager is absolutely fantastic and one of the most impressive lagers I have tried to date. Best of all, it is priced at $5.99 a four pack. I hope one day this becomes regularly available in my area, as it definitely would be a staple in my fridge.
