Last month, Helena hosted the Montana Craft Beer Awards, and after networking with the various industry people who were in town, an opportunity presented itself that was too good to pass up. We decided to collaborate with Montana Craft Malt (utilizing their 2-row Pale malt) and Crooked Yard Hops to brew a Black IPA. Roasty, bitter and delicious, we now know it was totally the right thing to do. Loaded with Cascade hops grown locally, along with Simcoe and El Dorado, it has all the resin, pine and citrus notes you would expect in a beer that is characterized by its 'black as your ex's cold heart' color. Pairs well with Chevelle, Metallica and Taylor Swift.
