Lots of off flavours and smell. Alcohol and malt. On tap at the source, too long sitting about?

Released 4/4/22; drank 8/5/22 @ Pokemon Communion.
Cloudy orange/red appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice khaki head; frothy lace.
Soap, toffee & floral notes in the nose.
A bit off-putting.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Soap, booze heat, faint caramel & some fresh flower flavors.
This ain't it boss; it's pretty tough to finish.

Pours a more amber color with a decent head that peaks and then relegates itself to a medium-thin ring. . Nose has a cherry edge to a honey malt sweetness with a slightly boozy edge.
Opening isn't as thick as expected, and the burst of flavors that come start with the cherry blossom honey note but a stronger than expected piney bitterness rolls in. It ends up producing a bold bitter coffee impression, and while not what I expect from an English barley wine, is quite enjoyable. As I drink, I notice the underlying malt providing a strong base for the hops I missed originally. A honey-sweet booze flitters in from above.
A thinner initial feel gains thickness and stickiness as it warms. Bittersweet beer lingers with honey and pine, slightly drying. I might argue it leans a little more American than English, but it is a very enjoyable beer, regardless.

Caramel, with a light char to it, dominates this one. I also get some light apple, hints of fig, and honey. There is a trace pine sap at the end. Pretty darn good.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a mildly hazy garnet-auburn topped by a finger of light khaki foam. The nose comprises caramel, burnt toffee, light molasses, light pine resin, and a touch of booze. The taste brings in more of the same, that burnt/caramelized character really kicking into high gear, and some dark breadiness making itself known as well. Almost a vinyl-like quality at times. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly drying finish. A bit overdone, for lack of a better word, but I could see sipping this one - slowly - over the course of a cigar being a nice bit of evening.
