my first from these guys, courtesy of my brother, a blended mixed fermentation type funky saison done with second use peaches, really unique brew, delicate but distinctive, love the ferment and the mellow fruit, this is well refined, piquant, and intriguing, dry and mineral forward to the extent of almost seeming salted, way cool, sexy packaging as well! vibrant brassy yellow color, clearish through the first half of the bottle, a little sediment later towards the bottom and a more muted luster then, fizzy but only collecting a short white head. the nose is lemony and quite tart, white wine and oak abound, must be wine barrels right? some snappy yeastiness and white bread on the grain side, subtle peach, ripe and floral and natural, but fermented near dry it seems. the flavor is also relatively acidic the whole way, but its still got some neat funk to it, woody enough but also still kind of young in a sense to me, bacteria outcompeting other fermenting agents, but i can appreciate little flashes of brett and maybe cultured saison yeast too. pils malt i reckon, some wheat too, on the dry side with the acidity at the end, and never made sweet by the fruit despite the peach essence being infused all through it. summery, floral, expressive, interesting beer that is unlike others in this style space, nicely blended and refined with just enough carbonation and a cool use of the peaches from another brew. im into this, and will be on the hunt for more wild east stuff, this was killer!
