12oz pour consumed at the source for $8. Full pints of this are apparently not allowed, which I'm fine with.
Color-wise, this is somewhere between ruby and amber, with a thin, beige colored head.
Malty nose, with a nutty, toasted bread aspect to it.
Flavor is much like the nose, except for a barely noticeable warming alcohol taste that is WAY in the background and most noticeable in the finish.
Medium bodied, with a mouth appropriate for a Red Ale.
Lately, Bottle Bay is nailing high abv beers that hide their booziness extremely well. This beer matches that description, while also being malty but without being overly sweet, the way many red/amber ales can be. I'm not a huge fan of those, but I could have a couple of these, and probably be deeply hung over the next day!
