Liquid black hole in a glass - light dares not penetrate. It's freakin' dark. Dark tan head that's foamy but has bigger bubbles trapped in the matrix. Falls fairly quickly to a ring. Not much cling but the liquid sheets the glass like oil.

The initial smell I get is vanilla, mild pumpkin pie spices, some roasted malts, sweetness, a little chocolate.

The flavor flips it a bit - I get the stout basics first with a nice dark malt, some slight char, cocoa. The additives are nicely restrained here. There's a vanilla sweetness that's not overdone and the cinnamon and nutmeg are harmoniously blended. The chocolate is lingering as a milk chocolate flavor. Cinnamon spice bit at the end and there's a vegetal squash flavor from the pumpkin but essentially a background player. Chocolate, char, and cinnamon linger quite a while. The flavors overall I'd say are intense when taken together but nothing is particularly overpowering.

A little more than medium-bodied. Moderately carbonated and somewhat creamy.

Ok...I can appreciate this beer and it is very, very nicely made. But I don't like it... I don't need to have it again, although I'd certainly go for a different or BA version of the base stout.

The pour is jet black with a tan & frothy head of foam. The taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, pumpkin, vanilla, & spices. The 12% abv drinks like a 10% abv. In general, it was good to try an imperial stout made with pumpkin, nutmeg, vanilla, & cinnamon. Cheers! A-

Poured a jet-black body with tan head that quickly died. There is a strong aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin in this beer. Slick, medium body, has a tad too much booze, cinnamon and nutmeg but still sweet and there's a pumpkin pie-like dryness that is also evident.

Absolutely stunning pour. Ridiculously rich thick color, awesome head.

No noticable smell coming through.

Taste is so so. I expected more. Slight pumpkin, which is not that good and not much else.

Good beer, not nearly as good as some of their others.

The harvest season is upon us, so flavors of pumpkin, spice, roast and toast are bountiful. Timber Ales is out to capture the essence of all of these fields, ...if those fields are on fire.

Leading with a strong roast element Fields of Fall pour with a deep and dark espresso appearance equipped with a dainty frothy creme. As the scents of deeply roasted coffee come with pumpkin spice, there's a robust and warming perfume that captures the nose. Dominant with malt from start to finish, the first sip reveals the slightly burnt flavors of caramel, toffee and brown sugar.

Strong coffee-like flavors settle in on the middle palate and shift the trend from robust sweetness toward the roasty flavors of espresso, campfire, smoked cocoa and burnt walnut. As a coffee-like bitterness also arises, its the individual spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove that carry the balance into a savory and warming finish.

Full bodied but shy of cloying, the robust stout finishes roasty and charred with remnants of carbonized sweetness and an extension of coffee liqueur and fall spice once more.

16oz can poured into a SA perfect pint

A- pours a viscous black color with a one finger creamy brown head that has great retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- chocolate and roasted malt up front provide a base for equal spice notes of cinnamon & nutmeg, with a creamy vanilla undertone

T- rich chocolate and roasted malt up front with some dried dark fruit undertones as well as a hint of black cherry. Mid-palate brings out the cinnamon and nutmeg, getting more nutmeg overall. The finish gives a creamy vanilla sweetness before giving way to More chocolate and roast on the linger

M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a silky creamy, warming finish

O- the base stout is fantastic and the spices are a great compliment, well done

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a nearly black, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin milk chocolate head that dissipates to sparse patches with almost no lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and slight cocoa. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, bakers chocolate, licorice and a wisp of pumpkin that I would have missed if I wasn't looking for it. Chocolate, vanilla and nutmeg in the finish with some light hop bitterness. Medium to deep bodied with moderate to thick creaminess. A rich, full bodied stout that appeared somewhat viscous in the pour and did have a substantial creaminess. Most of the noted adjuncts are clear notes: vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg, but the pumpkin is subsumed into the overall rich flavor. Great quality chocolate character too. I'm a pumpkin fan and would have liked a little more gourd presence, but it's hard to taste mostly because the overall flavor is so full; this is great with or without pumpkin. This got lost in the beer fridge and would/should have been drunk in the fall, but it survived fine like a big imperial stout should. Although Timber is sporadically distributed in my area, I found this in Southern California. I'd gladly like to have this around the fall season if it shows up again. Tastes, smells and feels great. Very nice.

Pours black as hell. Black-black dark color. Rich, malty, coffee-ish and creamy. I think I get the pumpkin flavors but hard to tell..this beer has almost everything perfect for a fall beer from the percentage to the can design/name and creamy-sticky goodness..just needs more pumpkin dry baking spices! Still great brew.

Pours a jet black with a half finger of head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring with little to no lacing. Aroma of vanilla, pumpkin, and cinnamon. Taste follows nose.

Pours a black color with a minimal, but very bubbly, head. Aroma of chocolate, sweet vanilla and caramel. Taste is tangy cinnamon and sweet vanilla. Smooth and creamy with a slight alcohol warmth at the finish.
