This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells weirdly of kind of artificial vanilla and fruity bubble gum, with lots of dark fruit, some oak, and dark chocolate.
This is easily the worst of the various Timber stouts I've had to this point. It's a testament to how dynamite some of the other ones are, but this just oddly doesn't work. The cinnamon isn't even that strong, it's the vanilla itself that just presents oddly to me. It's very fruity and almost bubble gum like, with a semi-artificial sweetness that I just can't dig. The barrel just serves to add some astringency on top of that - it all kind of just clashes. As the beer warms up a bit, some of those weird flavors kind of dissipate, and the barrel becomes a more pleasant complementary flavor overall.
This is medium bodied, slightly boozy, with not the best drinkability overall.
This was definitely a bit disappointing, especially compared to how good this brewery tends to be.
