Copenhagen 29/6 2023. 47,3 cl can from Kihoskh, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh. V. Brown can with a vigilant dog standing guard.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small off-white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, sticky, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sugary sweetness followed by a light bitterness. Aftertaste is sugary with a light bitter undertone. Boozy searing streak. Lingering. Finish is sugary yet dry.
Sweet and sugary Barley boozer.

Remember when the Germans told the Americans to surrender, and General Mcauliffe replied, “Nuts!” Yeah, legendary stuff. Now, this beer might be as amazing as said moment, but it’s good enough. Yeah, just good enough.

Pours a very dark, mostly clear orangish brown color, opaque n the glass; thin, tan head, wispy and patchy with more substance around the circumference. Smell of dark chocolate and cocoa; figs and prunes; tobacco juice. Outstanding, well-rounded flavors; chocolate and brown sugar; dark, dried fruit esters in the background; slightly boozy; black licorice; cocoa powder; honey. Heavy body; viscous and sticky; mild alcohol dryness.
This well-balanced, heavy beer makes for a fine sipper on a below-freezing Friday morning. Thick and satisfying with an apt boozy kick to enjoy while watching the snow fall and Thanksgiving weekend football games on the screen.

16oz can. Date stamping on can bottom is illegible for the month but the rest is '??/02/22'.
Ruby brown colored body. Fizzy brown head only lasts for a few seconds, but there is an active surface storm from rising bubbles. No lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, prune, raisin, and toffee.
Taste is sweet, with prunes, raisins, caramel, brown sugar. The appearance of the nuts is late in the profile, and brief. Reminders of chocolate and maple syrup. Dark fruit and malts linger in the aftertaste.
Thicker, syrup-like mouth feel, which gets a little sticky on the lips. Higher ABV% is warming, but not burning. Supportive carbonation.
Good range of flavors, and the brief appearance of the nuts adds to the complexity.

Cracked this beauty, born on June 2, 2022, on Feb 10, 2023. The pour is dark and with almost no head, just some fine lacing at the edge of the glass. If the pecans and almonds weren't mentioned, you could be mistaken in believing they were part of the malt bill. An embodiment of an amazing English barleywine. Lightly sweet, malty and great. Not a mind-bending complexity bomb, just a really expertly created English style Barleywine Ale. 100% would drink weekly, if I could source and afford it.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Dark brown pour, tiny ring of beige head. Sweet malty aroma, raisins, molasses. Taste comes in sweet and boozy, prunes, leather, tobacco, malty, pecans, almonds, chocolate. Syrupy, creamy feel. ABV remains at the finish. A lot going on here. Sip and savor.

Poured at fridge temp from a can. Pours black with light brown head. Chocolate, almonds, walnuts, malts, and some charred wood.
The taste is really nice. Roasted malts, nuts, chocolate, a bit of charred wood. Honestly, this doesn't really come across as a barleywine for me. Almost stout or porter like. A bit of licorice. Very nice. Mouthfeel is creamy. My rating is a bit lower because this doesn't seem to go along with the style.
