Aged for 23 months in Old Rip Van Winkle Barrels – this is bound to be a barrel bomb, and I love that.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like oak, vanilla, licorice, herbal bitterness, milk chocolate, caramel, and coconut.
This is utterly fantastic, with a deep, almost umami-like barrel character, with a real earthy chocolatey and licorice like malt character. There’s oaky spice, and fruity bourbon, with some light tones of vanilla and coconut coming off the bourbon here. There’s a nice roastiness, as well.
This is medium bodied, not all that boozy, and nicely drinkable for the style.
This has some hefty and really interesting barrel character to it.
