Blended with Lumber is our barrel-blended Imperial Stout series. Blend #3 features 1/3 Imperial Stout aged for 32 months in maple syrup barrels that previously held Bourbon blended with 2/3 fresh Imperial Stout. The finished product was then conditioned on maple syrup and coffee from our friends at Mostra Coffee.

12oz can from my brother. Near black pour, silky beige head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, chocolate, roasty with some warmth on the back end. Initial sweetness in the taste, chocolate, maple syrup, minor coffee notes. Sweet and gooey. ABV creeps in late.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This monster pours a coal black with a nice head
of brown foam that settles to a thick ring, thin swirling layer, and sports some light lacing.
Nose of rich maple, dark chocolate, subtle bourbon, and dashes of vanilla and dark
berries. Flavors hit the mark with dark coffee, dark chocolate, light bourbon, rich
maple, moderate char, deep roast, vanilla, dark berry notes of blackberry and blueberry,
molasses, and brulee. Mouth feel is full, smooth, rich, coating, warming, slick, light
carbonation, and a rich bitter malt and maple finish dashed with bourbon.
Overall, a solid little (BIG) brew that is nicely balanced for being so sweet. A malt bomb
that isn't cloying and well presented.
Cheers

Gorgeous, beautiful pour. Good dark brown head that clings.
Delicious nose, maple, sweet.
Smooth and silky. Plenty of maple and great texture.
This beer is outstanding, but pricey.

Poured from 12 oz. can into a stemless glass at 62°. It is a very dark walnut - nearly black. The foamy, medium-mocha-colored head fizzled away quickly leaving a small ring around the glass and minimal lacing. The nose is big and fragrant with graham cracker, caramel, maple syrup, and subtle but noticeable bourbon. Wow, the maple syrup is huge in the flavor; it's like the slices of candied maple syrup you can purchase in Vermont. Beneath lies chocolate, caramel, freshly-brewed coffee, and nutty char. What is phenomenal is the mouth feel. Totally viscous - like motor oil, with low carbonation. While there is no escaping the 13.4% ABV, it is not overtly boozy - just big. Overall, this is my first experience with Timber Ales and it is memorable. While it is a little sweet for me, the taste and mouth feel are undeniably excellent. This is a tour de force!
