a clean and and hearty, yet low alcohol pale ale here, very northwestern, very old school, as malty as it is hoppy, copper in the glass, nice clarity and shine from the tap, and a short white head as well. it smells and tastes balanced to me, sweet from some weighty crystal malt, pine forward hop complexion, maybe simcoe and centennial or something like that, higher alpha but not overly bitter, not to dry hoppy either, this is pretty straightforward from a recipe and process standpoint it seems, but the fermentation is nice and clean, and it comes close to drying this out by the finish. some light mineral character here but never metallic, a trace of honey and toffee, and then all the hops, which have juniper and spruce attributes and seem bitter and very fresh to me. good carbonation on this, more body than the low abv suggests it should have, and a tidy, even snappy finish. nice pale ale here, very basic in terms of recipe, but the execution is very good and this is a solid day drinker!
