On tap at the Pearl brewpub. This is more of a smoked rye hefeweizen than a true roggenbier.
Mildly hazy amber. Nose is delicately smoked malt with a nice rye note, spicy, grainy and earthy. Also present are notes of banana and clove. Palate opens with spicy bananas with a touch of smoke. Mild notes of rye with a noticeable hefeweizen yeast character, there's clove and banana present. Drying on the finish with a lingering clove note, this one's unconventional but inspired.
