a shame we still dont have a category for mexican lager here, seems years and years overdue. another exceptional lager from von ebert here though, these guys really do a number of these extremely well. this is about as light as they get, a perfect compliment to a heavier mexican feast, this is flavorful but snappy dry and easy drinking, expertly refined. clear yellow in the glass, and even though there are traces of a quickly discarded lime wedge on the rim from the restaurant where i had this, i still swear i am picking up some lime in the beer itself, maybe a little corn too in the mash, minerals from the water, light biscuit, fruity lager yeast, really simple in the best way. some herbal hops to the flavor, grass and dried lime peel, probably saaz, and its nice and earthy and crisping, super pale on the malt side but again some corn likely, a mild soapy thing that kind of froths up the light body a little bit, and a trace european element here, maybe in the pils malt, maybe in the ferment, maybe both. crackling dry, carbonated like champagne, can handle fatty foods and spice alike, and washes the palate clean with each sip. citrus and minerals to finish, absolute refreshment. i have not seen this one in cans yet, but i sure hope i do. a perfect summer fridge beer, but also more than that. loved it!
