Taster at brewery. Clear, medium golden pour , wispy head, some lacing. Sweet grainy aroma and taste, malty, biscuity. Nice feel, full, slick. Refreshing too

these guys arent calling this a red lager i dont think, but i certainly am, its amber in color and far more malt heavy than anticipated, somewhere in here i thought i read or heard or saw this was a pale lager, maybe its in the name, so i was surprised when it poured this dark. not quite clear, short tan headed, smells nutty and thankfully not sweet, because it was a hot and humid day when i had this, we had just finished a bit of a hike, and i was ready for a refreshing pounder. this definitely isnt that, but its drier nature helps it stay drinkable for being malt driven. parts of this are like a vienna lager, a honey note in the middle, the toasted and cooked character it has, and the way the yeast flavor starts in a little earlier, all of this works in its favor and keeps in interesting, even the malt is not monotone, there is some depth to it, a light dried fruit thing as it warms, and the yeast is bready and old worldy and adds a lot to this, seems patiently produced. good carbonation, medium body, a very light toffee note, maybe this would be better for fall than summer, but as the only lager on their menu i liked it quite well overall.
