Drowned Lands doesn’t do canning dates, but I know I’ve been hanging onto this one way too long either way, especially for a Sour IPA. Oh well, this brewery hasn’t disappointed me much, so I think even an old beer will be pretty damn good. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about

Pours a lightly cloudy reddish orange with 3 fingers of soapy pinkish white head that quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing

The nose is pretty basic but it's still nice for what it is. I'm picking up on aromas of tart raspberry, jammy blackberry, earthy wheat, lemon zest, honey, light grassy hops, and blueberry skin

It's a bit more subtle in taste but there's still a nice fruity tartness, particularly on the back end. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting earthy wheat, bread crust, lemon zest, honey, jammy blackberry, and light blueberry. The swallow brings notes of blueberry skin, jammy blackberry, lemon juice, bready malt, light honey, and tart raspberry

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer with a subtle bite. Finishes mostly dry and tart

Obviously this is far from its peak but it’s pretty solid regardless

A - Opaque strawberry colored with a really dense, bubbly lacing ring.

S - Sour strawberry / raspberry aroma

T - Raspberry, yes - a tinge of strawberry, and vanilla from start to finish with a little bit of blackberry.

M - Medium body with some chewiness and dryness on the back of the tongue while the rest of thr mouth waters.

O - Puckering and IPA is an oxymoron. Call it what it is => It's a Sour.

Decent sour IPA has a good fruit bite not too sour but does have a bitter mineral character that I don't enjoy 100% could be the Cashmere hops (isn't that a sweater?)

As others stated it doesn't really drink like an IPA I don't get any hops or herbal bite so really it's just a high gravity sour. Overall it's pretty decent and better than I expected for a quick pick at the local giant eagle.

can to snifter,

LOOK: hazy coral color, almost no head.

AROMA: very berry, strawberry-raspberry-blackberry, hint of earthiness or mineral.

TASTE: tart raspberry, citrus,

FEEL: ok carbonation, light body, acidic finish.

OK. Went from not liking this much, to getting into it more around 3-4 oz, to then feeling all the sour too cloying around 10-11 oz. Not my kind of beer, but I try to be fair; and I've had a few Sour IPA types that I thought were excellent, so I'm not completely off the style. This is good, but skates that line of too sour for me.

This one pours a pinkish/purplish color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like creamy berry type stuff, with vanilla sweet, and a bit of doughiness.

This doesn't really resemble an IPA in any way - but it does resemble a solid little fruited kettle sour. There's some citrusy, maybe, but mostly dark berries and black currants. There's not much tartness here.

This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, with a very nice drinkability.

I prefer Drowned Lands' more traditional styles, but this still pretty solid.

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a shaker pint; canned 03/12/21.
A: Pours a cloudy, almost orange tinged, dark rose pink with a nearly one finger, subtly pink head, solid retention and effervescence to feed it, but rather spotty bits of near lacing.
S: Sulfur note out front. Tart to the nose, but pleasantly so. Aromas fruity at first (raspberry, lemon, strawberry, cranberry and blueberry) with a full portion of bread/doughiness.
T: Fairly dry and tart. Flavors of pink lemonade, raspberry, and darker berries (blueberry, maybe currant) dominate.
M: Medium bodied with solid effervescence.
O: Drowned Land makes sour IPAs which are more American Wild Ales, but also really enjoyable versions of the kettle sour. Sulfur note a bit strong at first, but burns off after a few minutes. Enjoyed it.

A: Somewhat a cross between flamingo and peach. Dots of lace.

S: Semi-sweet melon, peach skins, raspberry lemonade, scorpion cocktail.

M: Despite the wheat and oats, this beer lacks a lot in body. Ice slushie feel, but it doesn't hold any sweetness. More like shaved ice.

T: Expecting something along the lines of pink starburst with a lush herbal sweetness like the boys at Beacon produce. Samples more like tropical lemonade Now and Later, or an unsweetened blue raspberry ice pop. Authentic, unadulterated and underripe blackberry flavor amplified by tart squeeze of and lime, splash of orgeat. Hopping seems aggressive with a pronounced woody bitterness. No off flavors, just more woody, citrus, and bitter than expected. It's cool, refreshing, and leaves a pleasant berry aftertaste.
