I’ve really been digging The Drowned Lands recently. They seem to handle multiple styles pretty well. A Porter with vanilla served nitro isn’t exactly my first choice, but I trust that these guys got it figured out. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours an opaque dark brown with a finger of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
There isn’t too much going on in the nose but there doesn’t need to be, it’s good for what it is. I’m picking up on aromas of vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate, toffee, light roast coffee, raisin, and dark toast
It’s similar in taste but a bit muted thanks to the nitro treatment. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla bean, brown sugar, raisin, and light bready malt. The swallow brings notes of vanilla bean, milk chocolate, toffee, dark toast, honey, black cherry, and medium roast coffee
A light medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes neutral and balanced
This isn’t mind blowing but it is very solid. I’m happy I tried it regardless

Poured nitro style from the can, straight down the glass, producing a dark black body, with a lightly cascading look to it. It ends up with a fluffy white head and lots of lacing.
This smells like milk chocolate, heavy roast, a touch of creamy vanilla, and a hint of oak.
I absolutely love that I was able to buy a can of oak aged vanilla porter on nitro – it’s just not something you’re going to see often, if at all. It’s so wonderfully chocolatey. Instead of presenting as a pastry leading actor, the vanilla highlights the super fudgy body of the porter, adding some pleasant sweetness. There’s lots of roast here, and definitely a semi-coffee like vibe here.
The nitro is just presented so well here, propping up the body, making it super creamy and luxurious, and just making for a really pleasant drinking experience.
This was brewed so well, and just came out so enjoyably. I loved this one.

A bit too sweet for a Porter. To me it is like drinking chocolate milk.
