It started with another egregious pour from the pint can of a modern American IPA. Because of excessive foam, the entire contents couldn't be emptied into a clear glass liter mug with one pour at room temperature. A pause allowed the mess to recede quickly, unevenly and unattractively, leaving virtually no lacing. The loosely knit foam is off-white, holding a hint from the liquid. Its color is sandy-amber, dull and almost murky. There's a strong complex aroma of hops, with notes of pine, resin and pineapple. Some starches may be there, but almost nothing from barley malt. To taste, the hops are dominant, but they're not sharply bitter. The body is adequate and adds some sweet balance. As the nose predicted, the taste star are the hops. They also drink complexly, resinous to the point of being almost oily. That's what makes this one intriguing, plenty of hop flavor, yet little hoppy bite. Adding to that enigma is an ABV approaching eight percent. Pleasantly unfiltered, there's some sediment at the bottom of the vessel. The glass lacing didn't improve, but the body remained sufficient as the hops accumulated on the tongue. For a hazy modern American IPA, this is flavorful and interesting.

Rich, but chemistry coming a little apart (please date your cans, people), still very quaffable. More boozy than listed, strong hop forward. Can from Beer Town.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy yellow pour, thin, silky white head. Aroma is equal parts tropical and stone fruit, with some citrusy zest. Citrus peel takes over in the taste, zesty, sharp. Some dank notes creep in as well, with the ABV revealing itself at the finish. Creamy.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (10% clarity) medium to dusky golden color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)
Aroma: orange, green citrus, coconut, green lime and floral notes.
Flavor: Strong flavors of green citrus, lime, some soapy, floral notes with some coconut and pineapple. Clean finish.
Feel: Medium body, a strong crimination, finishes with a soft, smooth and full mouth feel. Relatively dry.
Compared to Phase Three Energetic Mind 12/24: Pours similar, larger head. Stronger aromas. More coconut, green floral and lime notes. Less grapefruit, pineapple, and mango skins.
Overall: The Sabro hop, love it or hate it, packs a soapy punch here, and for whatever reason today is coming across like a chlorinated backyard swimming pool. Sabro is hard to do and it comes across a bit harsh here. I think it's better used as a supporting hop to add some nice complexity. That said, I really enjoyed trying this. (Rating: 3.84+)

Not much if a strong aroma and has a more grapefruit flavor. Definitely not overwhelming but quite smooth for what is a more sour taste. Seemed to have hemp base to it. I’ve had hemp style beers and this just seemed to be very similar to those.

From a 16oz can with no obvious canning date. From the DL Instagram post from many weeks ago: “…our latest batch of Still Prairie (7.9%) gets Foeder fermented to give it a nice fall feel. Double IPA hopped with Citra and then double dry hopped in stainless with Sabro and Mosaic. Rosy and floral on the nose, we’re getting at taste for holiday punch bowls rich in citrus, pomegranate a bit of ginger and lime.” Very smooth and vibrant,

I rarely give a DIPA a 4.5. Great combo of Sabro and Mosaic. Lots of stone fruit, very floral and a smooth MF. Excellent beers from this upstate N.Y. brewer.
