Vibrant and clear golden body; dense and lively carbonation; thick white head initially; head size reduces to a fair size rather quickly, sudsy. Malt sweet nose; faint suggestion of phenol smoke snaking through the caramel sweetness; fruity esters. Medium body; smooth with a touch of stickiness on the palate.
A rather disappointing rauchbier, especially with the taste. I don't expect most rauchbiers to come across like the famous Bamberg beers but at least there should be a more smoke character the aroma and taste. Not a bad beer for, say, an amber lager, but the lackluster smokey presence one might hope for is very, very tamed.
