Collaboration with Grimm. What happens when one of our favorite breweries wins a gold medal for their Hefe, and we win silver for our Wit at the New York state Brewers association conference? A collab and we swap styles!

I’ll take a Hefeweizen from any brewery any day, but I’m especially excited to try one from The Drowned Lands. I don’t really have strong feelings one way or the other about Grimm but they’re solid, so I’m sure this will be one hell of a collaboration brew. Let’s get into it
Pours a lightly cloudy yellow gold with 3 fingers of frothy off white head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
There’s more fruit to the nose than your traditional Hefe but it makes for a fun beer. I’m picking up on aromas of overripe banana, raisin, sweet honey, bread crust, clove, raw grain, earthy wheat, orange zest, and light white pepper
It falls a bit flat in taste unfortunately, really just lacking definition. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting honey, earthy wheat, raw grain, clove, banana bread, and light white pepper. The swallow brings notes of raw grain, honey, lemon zest, bubblegum, light banana, and earthy wheat
A light body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer. Finishes a tad sticky but dries out over time
I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little disappointed by this one. It’s not awful by any means, solid actually, but from a brewery that typically impresses me it’s a bit of a letdown
