Back from the darkness of extinction, The Drowned Lands pull the blackness from the haze and create a hoppy taste that's a welcomed depth of roasted bitterness among all the floral and fruit.
Very dark brown and easily taken for black, Twilight releases a creamy tan froth and a seared citrus scent laced with perfume and char. A robust and savory malt upstart brings coffee, cocoa and a hint of smoke to the early palate while a quick rebuttal from hops bring a heightened taste of pink grapefruit, orange and pineapple- all seeming of the grilled variety. A distinctively bitter finish of toasted pine cone and citrus peel allow for a peppery and resinous hop bitterness to outshine the linger of burnt barley.
Medium bodied but seemingly fuller because of its robust taste, the Black IPA is indeed an IPA first and a dark ale secondarily. A long trail of roast and bitterness intertwine to take each to a height that neither can see on their own.

Purchased today at Halftime. Can not dated. Sadly. C'mon!
Poured into hop glass.
Lots of Yeast chunks settling to bottom of glass.
Faint aroma of roast and hops. Very pleasant, but faint.
Taste is to style, just mild. Nothing popping. Balanced, but boring.
I'd def like to try fresh at the brewery to give fair assessment.
**Update **
Purchased 4 pk at brewery today! (They were sold out at tap.)
Still no can dating?
No Chunky floaters, but color is still more of a cloudy dark brown; not a deep dark black. Head is phenomenal
-good inch of light, whipped, frothy tan top. (Though it dissipated quickly.)
Aroma is still strangely faint. Nothing off, but no real hop nose or any real grain presence. (?)
Taste was improved, with good balance of dark roast and piney citrusy hops. Overall, just lacking a bold presence. It's a black IPA!
Mouthful a little grainy.
Not a great black IPA, but a welcomed addition of a style that's all but gone in today's brew scene.

Black as can be with a nice thick tan head. Great lacing. Nose is very strange for a black IPA. This one has a strong citrus nose to it. Taste was also a good amount of citrus mixed with the charred flavor. Mediocre amount of bitterness on back that builds to a good amount.
