Apricot, Mango, Peach, Passion Fruit

This smoothie style sour contains a calming combination of mango from India, passion fruit from Thailand, and West Coast stone fruits. A deep breath in through the nose reveals aromas of ripe fuzzy peaches, tender apricots and drippy mangos. Exhale flavors of creamy fruit smoothie. (Vegan)

From Tavour. Bought two cans. The second goes as a Christmas gift to my nephews who are more adventuresome than I. This whole smoothie trend is interesting, but two things. First, my timing has to be good... this is a summer beverage and we are approaching the shortest day of the calendar and it is cold in Chicago. Second, I'd like to think I'm flexible traditionalist ... but this hybrid requires more getting used to than I can muster at my age.

That said, Coastal Sunshine Looks a bit out there (and I include the can, which I consider cool.) Smells are the fruit medley as advertised. Tastes are mostly refreshing and sweet with enough tart for balance. This is decent in the mouth, texture of a smoothie and bubbles of a beer. Overall, this asks a lot for me think of this as a beer.

But... Humble Forager itself is a bit of an experiment and certainly is exuberant about brewing life. About a year old, they have an interesting, mixed portfolio of strong porters and IPAs and, then, this line of fruited sours. Their website is cool and laid-back and as much California as Madison (which was known humorously as the Paris of the Midwest when I was a student there.) At any rate, I wish well to Humble Forager in finding their niche.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy whitish yellow in color. It poured without any head.
S: Moderate aromas of apricot and peach are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of peach with hints of passion fruit.
M: It feels medium-bodied and "slushy" on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer smells, tastes, and feels like a fruit smoothie.

16 oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours thick and sludgy like a Naked mango juice with a strange foamy head that seems to come from nowhere. Aroma and flavor are tart juice, with mango, peach, apricot, and passion fruit all represented. Mouthfeel is like sludgy fruit juice (but smooth - no pulp) with a little bit of carbonation. It's tasty but not really beer at all.

Can. Foamed up and overflowed when opened. Chunky thick sour. Burnt orange color.

Another smoothie sour. A little tart. This is as close to a Jamba Juice as I’ve had. Just chunky fruits. Mango and stone fruit.

So thicccc it’s hard to drink a lot of. Not sure what to think of this. It’s really not beer, but it is tasty.
