Is Todd's much-anticipated Lager Revolution coming to the UK?
Baybrooke is the first UK micro that I'm aware of that brews lagers almost exclusively. Others may make lagers a specialty, but I'll certainly look for any other Baybrooke-like dedication to lagers during my next eight months here. Topic for another time, but I lived in Chicagoland for 30 years of the crafting revolution and it certainly seemed like it had become the new centre for lager specialists.
For specialising and for a sophisticated website for a 6 year old and for cleanly designed labels and for the moxie of building a facility out in the countryside, I give Baybrooke very good Overall Hugs.
Bought at Beer Merchants Tap in a cute stub bottle, Harvest Festbier pours a big head that could leave more lace. Smells are mostly malt with vague intrigue. Tastes are well-balanced with the hops asserting themselves for a long finish, much like the style's classics. In reading on Baybrooke's website about the quality of their ingredients and adherence to the Bavarian process, this seems to show most in the Taste. Not quite medium-mouthed in this malty style. I'd like to find this again next Fall and compare to the classics. Prost ! (Cheers, too!)
