Lightly hazy, gold in hue, it was served in a pint glass; shame on them. Stadium pour; wispy white head that barely covered the liquid. The foam quickly faded to nothing. No subsequent lacing. The appearance could be improved, greatly.
The nose is nothing more then a lightly spicy melody sung without a beat or a harmony. I might call the nose Belgian in nature regardless the potency is weak but this beer isnt saying anything noteworthy anyway. The bouquet is fair but it really is lacking for a Saison.
The palate has flavor, it doesnt taste like a real Saison but it is okay. Maybe I am still bitter that my local brewpub, Upstream, failed with their summer seasonal Saison, as such any average attempt at a brewpub Saison seems acceptable. This one has some honey, coriander, and candy sugar in the mix; plus some tart and juicy fruitiness at the finish. Sweet. It is a bit cumbersome by the end. All in all, it is tasty not great hell; it is not something Id drink again. Simple and sip-able to a point but I dont enjoy drinking it, thus it is a mute point.
Medium/medium-light in body with low carbonation, the mouthfeel is workable.
One glass is enough for me. The first half was good but by the end, as it warmed, it became too sweet and lazy. Nice try but this beer needs a makeover. Drank at the Walnut Brewery in Boulder.
