Can pour, dated 08/25/24 SECRET ALT.
Pours a lovely reddish brown with a white head, plenty of bubbles throughout and completely clear albeit dark. Smell is brown bread with a hint of dark fruit and a subtle sweetness. Tons of malt character present on the nose alone. Flavor deepens the initial aroma, providing heavy notes of fresh bread and a little light caramel, which quickly develops into a snappy, spicy finish. The initial sweetness fades into a gentle bitterness which keeps it incredibly refreshing. Moderate carbonation on the tongue, which enhances the crisp finish but doesn't overwhelm the sweeter notes.
Compared to the standard altbier, which I compared this to on draft, the Sticke Bier has a sweeter but also deeper malt character and a more refreshing finish. It retains these characteristics in a can pour. Another hit for my favorite local brewery.
