Prepare to transcend into a new dimension of decadence and complexity. Echo In The Void takes the bold foundation of its predecessor, Static Between Worlds, and elevates it to extraordinary heights through an additional year of aging in rum and maple syrup barrels. This release embodies the pinnacle of barrel aging—where time and oak work in harmony to create a rich, layered tapestry of flavors that captivate the senses. Brewed in collaboration with our great friend @hollows_jason at @hollowsbeer (Netherlands), Echo In The Void is a celebration of heritage and innovation.
Echo in the Void began with an absurd amount of Vienna malt, step-mashed and single decocted, boiled for seven hours and fermented with our favorite English ale yeast. After its initial year in bourbon barrels, it spent an additional year in rum and maple syrup barrels, allowing the flavors to meld and mature into something truly special.
Pouring a deep mahogany with a warm amber glow, Echo In The Void invites you in with aromas of rum-soaked caramel, toasted oak, and sweet maple. The first sip is a wave of velvety sweetness, where rich toffee, dark brown sugar, and crème brûlée meet the warming notes of rum and the subtle char of the barrel. The maple syrup imparts a gentle earthiness, beautifully balancing the deeper caramel and vanilla notes, while a smooth, rich finish lingers on the palate. This is not just a beer; it’s an experience—a union of time, wood, and flavors that bridges the past and future with every drop.

2024 vintage, into a snifter.
Pours a dark reddish brown with no foam. Aroma is a lot of rum, with some maple syrup. There's some burnt sugar as well, but overall very sweet. Flavor is boozy burnt sugar, rum, maple syrup, and dark bread. I definitely get the high percentage of Vienna malt as it's got a good hazelnut flavor as well as some delicious red fruits on the mid palate. The sweetness is very heavy but it has a lot of complexity that evolves as I sip and it warms. The finish is quite roasty and a tiny bit bitter which balances out all the sugars. I get a lot of different ideas here but they work out well and everything plays nice if not a little syrupy. There's some fig and raisin as well which are great, a little less rich than the red fruits on the front end, and the finish is very sticky with a little vanilla and bourbon. Feel is great, completely syrupy and almost flat. Huge body and very boozy but not off putting and no strange ethanol or harsh flavors. It's extremely sticky once again and heavy but as a sipper, excellent.
Barrique doesn't miss. This one I didn't love on draft, but I think I drank it too quickly to let it warm and allow the complexity to shine through. There's so much going on here, and I think a year of age really helped it evolve and become more cohesive.

Pitch black body, no head save a thin brown bubble ring. Smell gets the maple, vanilla, rum, molasses, caramel, date, raisin, and toasted barley. Taste starts hyper sweet, but then the barrels wash over that maple and vanilla led sugar to bring some balance, it leans sweet with barley and caramel emerging as stars, but the dark fruits has a dried sense to them, and the malt base is expressive in a good balance. Feel is smooth and boozy, sugars aren't felt as much as tasted, has the aged still barleywine mouthfeel that when done when is a treat... and you know what, they did it! The crazy brewers did it!

On tap at Barrique Brewing in Nashville, TN.
This one pours a very dark brown, almost black color, with basically no head or lacing.
This smells like maple syrup, toffee, brown sugar, sarsaparilla, chocolate, vanilla, spiced rum, and oak.
There’s a lot going on here. It verges on syrupy, with a lot of maple like flavors, but it just stops in front of being cloying. There’s a nice oaky spice and heat here that helps balance this, with chocolate, a sort of herbal sweetness almost like birch beer or sarsaparilla, heavily spiced rum, caramel, and toffee.
This is medium bodied, pretty thick, slightly boozy but not intensely so.
This is definitely a big boy barleywine, and I really enjoyed it.

The pour on this is a deep umber. Agitated carbonation is almost non-existent, as the beer settles flat in the glass after just a few moments.
The nose is sweet and inviting, a perfect harmony of both barrel character and base barleywine. We get notes of vanilla, dates, and caramelized sugar. Following closely there are some fantastic fruity esters giving almost bananas foster vibes. The softest touch of scorched wood brings some balance back to the predominantly rich profile.
The palate really provides a look at the other side of the coin with this complex treatment. Mostly gone is that rich introduction from the nose. Instead we're greeted with burnt caramel, roasty malt, and a touch of char. There's an underlying molasses sweetness that helps mellow any residual bitterness.
The mouthfeel is very unpresuming. There's a nice, almost syrupy viscosity, however it's nearly flat. Almost discernible levels of carb are noticed on the back end, but it's safe to say this one's nearly still. While the profile lends itself to slightly more texture, it doesn't detract much from the sheer complexity of this beer.

Sampled in the Barrique taproom in Nashville. The nose smelled of alcohol. The taste was of bourbon and maple. Very delicious. Mouthfeel thick and heavy.
