16oz canned 3-4-25, opened 5-10-25.
2 finger tan collar with good retention, holds fast at 1/4 inch for a good duration.
Dark brown to black body. Patchy lacing.
Roasty malt, licorice, and various iterations of dark bread.
Deep and complex malt flavors, roasty, creamy, chocolate, smoke, molasses, and a light hop spice makes a brief appearance.
Medium body and low + carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Roasty, lengthy finish. Clean as can be and maybe off-dry.
Outstanding.

On tap at Barrique Brewing in Nashville, TN.

This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like toasty bread, rye, pumpernickel, dark chocolate, and some grassy hops.

This is an absolutely bang on dark lager for my needs. It’s toasty, just lightly chocolatey sweet, with a nice roasty and grassy bitterness on the finish. It feels completely classic in all the best ways.

This is light bodied, clean, crisp, but pretty creamy on the finish.

There’s a lot to love here, I’d drink this again and again.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, small tan head, spotty lacing. Aroma is roasty, sweet, cola. Taste is malty, burnt toast, cola, sweet at the back. Some bitterness remains, but it's minor.

Dated 03/04/25, slow poured into a pils glass.

Pours a dark brown, almost black, with brownish foam which lasts for a while. Aroma is rich, roasty espresso and burnt malt with a slightly spicy tang. Flavor follows the nose, not as bitter as expected and even more rich. Tons of dark, roasty goodness with mild burnt flavors and low bitterness. Not too sweet, just enough to fend off being savory. Finish is crisp enough but very refreshing. Feel is good, very smooth for a lager, and quite soft.

Overall, a strange lager, but an exceptionally tasty one. Barrique always nails very dark lagers, and this one sits in a beautiful space between a drinkable amber lager and a roasty porter. Not bitter but exceptionally dark.
