Canned 09/30/25 CLOSET HAZE BRO, into a wide wine glass.

Pours an opaque light orange with lasting white foam, but extremely thick and hazy. Aroma jumps out of even the can much less the glass, extremely dank citrus rind and juicy yet bitter mango. Having had this one on draft and now in cans, it smells like a fresh gram. Flavor is similar but much softer, still extremely dank (Barrique uses Nelson and Mosaic in almost all of their IPAs, NE and WC) with lots of lime and resin. However, there's an incredibly smooth and soft mango and orange juice flavor under the resin and also lime zest that's extremely juicy. The finish is lightly bitter but really closer to an orange creamsicle than a classic IPA, and there's a slight sweetness to it. Going off of their Instagram post, this isn't standard Citra Mosaic Nelson, they're using a lot of early harvest, cryo hops, and heavily flavor-enhanced hops, which explains the intensity of the juice flavors. There's a slight hint of catty Nelson funk, but this one is all about the dichotomy between the gnarly lime and resin bitterness and the creamy, luscious mango and clementine. Feel is great, very soft and smooth. Low carb, also high body but low alcohol presence. To anyone who's had All Citra Everything by Other Half, this one feels like its inverse: shockingly smooth and fruity, with low bitterness for the brewer.

Overall, Barrique NEIPAs keep getting better and better. I was chatting with one of the beertenders about how I dislike their WCIPAs for all tasting the same, but how phenomenal their juicy IPAs are. It's insane that a world-class lager and wild ale brewery consistently makes such a wide spectrum of delicious hazies, from gratingly dank (my previous favorite from them) to impossibly soft and drinkable (this one). I know I'm rambling, but wow. With Southern Grist slated to be bought out and retired in January, Barrique may be the next best hazy brewer in Nashville, even if they're producing tiny batches just for fun.
