Taster at Payette. Clear golden. small white head. Aroma and Taste? Barey there. This came off pretty weak and bland, and was not much better than any of the macro lagers out there. Watery, adjuncts.

a light drinking mexican lager, off dry, a little under carbonated, way less interesting than their coconut ipa, but solid wish fish tacos tonight, good with a squeeze of lime, and a decent little beer overall, although not a standout example of the style i dont think. its a touch sweet, and doesnt hold much head, its not quite clean to drink, but i like that i can taste both some noble saaz type hops and the mexican lager yeast, not a vienna type at all which i was worries about, and its kind of got a miami or vegas aesthetic on the can, i bet this will sell pretty well for them. i wish it was a little more lively, but i dont mind the bit of hop bitterness it brings. the overall quality is a little lackluster, in a beer this simple and direct there isnt a ton of room for missing details like carbonation, but this is still a new thing, and i will give it time to dial things in, although being brewed at payette it should probably be a little objectively better than it is. im sure ill pick up the blonde ale in the coming weeks to try too, but so far it looks like the coconut ipa is the winner from waltrip in the early running. ice cold on a hot day though is a fine place for this one. light but not bland.
edit: on tap at payette where its made right now, way better than i recall from the can, no mention of waltrip brewing on their menu, but this has come a long way, great carbonation now, still super minimal on the grain, but holds a tall white head now, looks like a pils in the glass, stays fizzy, and has a crispness that it was missing before. nice to see this one improved, but weird how they present this one at the taproom. increasing a few scores to reflect that current draft quality.
